The people with whom Jesus walked and lived when He was on earth were like delegates for all of mankind. The many expressions of His love towards them are representative of His love for all of humanity. Any of us could have been a blind man He healed, a child He raised from the dead, or a leper He cleansed. Any of us could have been a widow He praised for giving so much from so little, or a thirsty soul He satisfied at the well in Samaria. In every act of kindness and miracle, Jesus demonstrated a love that transcends time and space, a love that is both personal and universal. He gave His life for mankind—past, present, and future—for God so loved the world. His is an everlasting, ever-present love, inviting us to embrace and share it with others.
