Throughout the Scriptures the Lord’s most oft-repeated and reassuring words to His people are “I am with You.” That means whatever may be, whatever may come, you will always be amply supplied, faithfully supported and often surprised by His wonders. He will always creatively reacquaint you with His magnificence: “Behold! I am the Lord, the God of all flesh! Is anything too difficult for Me?” (Jeremiah 32:27). “Behold” means look, pay attention, observe, “watch this” (or in French “Voila!”). Unlike Nike, God doesn’t “Just do it” He does it with flair! He does it with panache. That doesn’t always mean it will be spectacular or flashy, for sometimes His greatest wonders are done in the quiet obscurity of a Bethlehem night.
When we gather with the Lord’s people it can be such a glorious celebration. Enjoy it to the full, but don’t forget the “after party.” That is, remember that the “magic” is in not in the method but in the Master, the One who lives in You and goes with You wherever you go.
