Our relationship with the Lord is like experiencing the mighty forces of nature, beautiful and awesome. Dependable and unpredictable. It can be harnessed for river canals, windmills and solar energy, and other times it is completely out of our control, like floods, hurricanes and heatwaves. God is good but life is not “safe.” We don’t always know or understand what will enter our lives, why it is there or for how long it will stay. His love for us surpasses all other loves and all human knowledge. His wisdom is unsearchable, and His power is unlimited. Our faith quest is to know His character, trust His heart, and respect His ways, though we can never fully understand them. His promise to us is not a predictable life but an abundant one, consisting of an inseparable union with Him through all conditions. “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).
