What a blessing it is to be living under the New Covenant, as opposed to the Old, because according to the Scriptures, the New Covenant is based on “better promises” (Hebrews 8:6). The Old Covenant, rooted in the Law, emphasized personal performance and adherence to rules. It was a covenant of “you reap what you sow.” But the New Covenant, established by Jesus’ sacrificial death, brings forth a radical shift. It’s a covenant of grace, where we receive blessings we don’t deserve.
Let’s take just a moment to explore some of these astonishing blessings:
1. Forgiveness of Sins: Through Jesus, our sins are washed away. The shame that once burdened us is replaced with freedom and restoration.
2. Eternal Citizenship in Heaven: Our earthly journey is but a prelude to our eternal home. As citizens of heaven, we have hope beyond this life.
3. Indwelling of the Holy Spirit: The Spirit resides within us, guiding, comforting, and empowering us. We’re never alone.
4. Experiential Knowledge of Jesus: It’s not just knowing about Jesus; it’s knowing Him personally. Our relationship with Him deepens daily.
5. Inclusion in the Body of Christ: We’re part of a global family—a diverse, interconnected body that spans time and space.
6. Access to God’s Throne: Imagine! We can approach the Creator of the universe anytime, anywhere. His attention is on us.
7. The Rapture: That “any-day-now” moment when we’ll be caught up to meet Jesus in the air. What a glorious hope!
Jesus, the embodiment of grace, invites everyone to partake in this New Covenant. His arms are open wide, offering life abundantly to everyone and anyone who says “yes” and puts their faith in Him.
May we take just a moment to consider His invitation to this marvelous New Covenant and embrace its blessings.
