Every step, every stumble, every fall Jesus took toward the cross was a step toward us. That one line tells the truth of Good Friday. He wasn’t pushed there. He wasn’t trapped or overpowered. The cost of our redemption – the forgiveness of our sins and our right to eternal life – was a cost only He could pay. So He moved toward the cross of His own accord, with a love that refused to stop, no matter how high the price. Every wound, every insult, every nail was absorbed by a heart that would not turn away. You were more important to Him than His own life.
Good Friday is not the story of what happened to Jesus; it’s the story of what Jesus chose. His love was the reason for it. His love was the force behind it. His love was the purpose running through it.
So today, as we reflect on the cross, remember you are loved with a love that went all the way and held nothing back then – and holds nothing back today.
Something worth taking just a moment to remember on this Good Friday.
