Just a Moment with Pastor Dan Baty

April 24, 2026 By Dan Baty Leave a Comment

What if we approached all of life the way we walk through an art gallery – not the quiet, velvet‑roped kind, but the kind with warm lights, scuffed floors, and a curator who delights in surprise? What if we treated every moment as a masterpiece, containing some items that are bold and obvious, others that whisper, and a few that stop us mid-stride because we didn’t see them coming. We might even start treating familiar people with the same curiosity we bring to a painting we’ve seen a dozen times, knowing it might still surprise us. And what if instead of interpreting the “art,” we let it interpret us, letting it speak before we decide what it means and what it might reveal about us.

I think we’d live more awake, more grateful, and more attuned to the Artist – who is also the Curator – arranging the exhibits of our lives. If we walk slowly enough, we can see what He’s been saying all along, better grasp the lessons He’s been teaching us and better recognize the humor He keeps slipping into the corners of our days. We’d see His wisdom more clearly showing up in the timing of things, the way a conversation lands, or the way a closed door ends up being mercy in disguise. And then – almost from behind us – we’d hear Him whisper, “Look again. There’s more here than you first noticed.”

In a gallery, even the smallest item gets a frame and a light; nothing is dismissed as “ordinary.” We slow down. We tilt our heads. We savor. As Scripture reminds us, “Great are the works of the LORD; they are pondered by all who delight in them” (Psalm 111:2). Maybe today holds a sketch worth noticing.

Something to take just a moment to consider today.
