You know what I love about giving thanks? It’s not subject to the world’s rules of “big” and “small.” We’re the ones who rank things – major blessings over here, minor conveniences over there. But thanksgiving doesn’t play along. It just says, “Did God give it? Then it matters.”
The power of thanksgiving isn’t in the size of the gift – it’s in the faith behind it. It’s in the smiling trust that whispers, “Father, I see Your hand, even in this.”
And here’s the hidden gem: When we thank Him for the little things – the overlooked, the taken-for-granted, the everyday mercies – we’re actually making a bold confession of faith. We’re saying we believe He is the Source of everything, not just the headline blessings.
Small thanks often carry the biggest truth: that God is paying attention, that His care is constant, that His faithfulness is threaded through the ordinary moments we usually rush past. It’s our way of agreeing with James 1:17 – that every good thing, every perfect gift, every quiet provision we didn’t even think to ask for, comes from above.
So today, if all you have is a “small” thing to be grateful for… go ahead. Give thanks anyway. It yields BIG dividends. He sees the faith behind it, and it honors Him. It delights His heart and also blesses us.
Something to take just a moment to consider today.
