Have you ever noticed that quiet pull inside – the one that keeps drawing us back toward God, even on days we feel scattered? None of us created that longing on our own. We didn’t manufacture it, earn it, or stumble into it. God placed it in us according to His promise: “I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh” (Ezekiel 11:19).
He awakened – and continues to nurture – something that wasn’t there before: a desire to know Him, to walk with Him, to please Him. And every time that longing rises in us, it’s a reminder that He’s still at work.
This new heart changes how we move through the world, how we process our moments. It nudges us toward forgiveness when holding a grudge feels easier. It softens us when we’re tempted to harden. It draws us back when we drift. It whispers truth when old habits shout lies. And even on days when we don’t feel particularly spiritual, the longing remains – steady, persistent, gentle – pulling us toward Him.
So today, let’s pause to say thank You. Thank You, Lord, for doing in us what we could never do for ourselves. Thank You for giving us hearts that want You, seek You, and find joy in You. And thank You that the One who began this work in us will carry it all the way to completion.
Something to take just a moment to consider today.
