Just a Moment with Pastor Dan Baty

What are your disadvantages? Most of us carry a quiet list of things we wish we could change – be younger or older, taller or thinner, prettier, healthier, richer, better connected, better educated. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to improve, but many of those “if only” wishes are really surface cravings that never touch what our hearts truly hunger for.

If you sit with those wishes long enough – and even notice how people who seem to have what you’re longing for still hunger for more – you start to see something: they never reach the deepest part of us. Because beneath all of that, our deepest desire finds its fulfillment in Christ. That’s the Jesus difference: the life we’re looking for doesn’t wait somewhere “out there.” With Him, the party goes with you instead of you going to the party, and it rises from the inside out rather than the outside in. “Whoever believes in Me…streams of living water will flow from within him” (John 7:38). And maybe our present selves and circumstances make us the best receivers of that living water at this present time.

Something to take just a moment to consider today.
