Having encountered dear brothers and sisters in Christ who are living under the oppressive fear that the words they speak may bring into existence an unwanted situation or result, I must say I would rather trust in the One to whom I am speaking than in the power of the words I speak.
Speaking “into the atmosphere” does not have greater control over my life than the One who neither slumbers nor sleeps and who guards my going out and my coming in. According to the Scriptures, my words affect people for better or for worse, and yes, to a degree “self-talk” can affect my mindset, but my words have no magical, spell-casting powers over my life. In other words, I cannot speak misfortune into my life by saying the wrong thing. My future is not determined by mystical powers of the universe activated by my words, but by the Living One who knows me, who loves me and in whom I trust.
Something to take just a moment to consider.
