As we face this week let us be mindful that our expectations are not guarantees, no matter how routinely we have done something, no matter how passionately we may desire something and no matter how reasonable it seems for us to have something. Life often happens unexpectedly.
But this is not cause for despair, but for celebration. For though we like all people live under this scenario, for us there more than “fate” at the helm. Underneath us are the everlasting arms of the living God.
What is a guarantee is His love for us as demonstrated by Jesus giving His life for us. What is guaranteed is His Spirit living in us, opening and revealing to us day by day the unfathomable gifts of the New Covenant that He purchased for us with His blood and with which He has flooded our lives. For us, no matter the circumstances, “uncertainty” always meets “guarantee.”
