What is the relationship between Faith and Trust? Faith is what we believe; trust is what we do. In other words, trust is the ‘action’ of faith.
Imagine believing that a cruise ship is seaworthy. You now have faith that it won’t sink in the ocean. The action of boarding that ship demonstrates trust. Trust is putting your faith into practice.
With that as the backdrop, now consider the tremendous promise of Psalm 9:10: “Those who know Your name will put their trust in You.” Trust, that is, acting on our faith, is directly connected to getting to know the Lord. Not to our personal strength, or our spiritual discipline or the strength of our will. The promise is that as we grow in our knowledge of the Lord, it will progressively convert our faith into trust. It will organically produce actions of Christ-like love, character, and service.
Therefore, investing time and focus on getting to know the Lord better is not a spiritual hobby or pastime; it is the proper and healthy catalyst of Christian discipleship.
May your upcoming week be seasoned with the knowledge of Him and all the blessings that flow from it.
