We’ve all experienced those frantic moments of searching for misplaced items—our keys, our phones, maybe even our glasses, which amusingly might be perched right on our noses! There’s a well-known adage that goes, “A place for everything and everything in its place.” It’s a gentle reminder to keep our lives organized and free from unnecessary chaos.
After miraculously calming a massive storm that had terrified His disciples, Jesus asked them, “Where is your faith?”
Much like looking for lost belongings, asking ourselves, “Where is my faith?” is crucial for experiencing the surpassing peace of God.
So often, we find our faith misplaced in our own wisdom, leaning on our understanding and intellect to navigate life’s challenges. Or perhaps, we bury it in our own strength, believing we can overcome any obstacle through sheer willpower. We might also find it lying in our own resources, trusting in our financial stability, possessions, or social status to provide security and fulfillment.
Ultimately, the Scriptures instruct us to rest our faith in its proper place—on the power, wisdom, and provision of God. When we intentionally and prayerfully put our faith in His unchanging love and omnipotence, we find His peace and assurance. Our hearts are then able to receive the blessing of Psalm 46:10: “Be still, and know that I am God.”
A place for everything and everything in its place. As we embark on our week, let us remember to periodically ask ourselves, “Where is my faith?” May God bless us with the grace to find it resting with Him.
