Pastor Dan Baty’s Monday Morning Boost

April 27, 2026 By Dan Baty Leave a Comment

When you really believe you have peace with God, it not only quiets your fear – it quiets your pretending. You begin to welcome truth. Where there is no threat, there is no need for fear. And when fear leaves, honesty finally feels safe enough to enter the room.

At first, that honesty speaks softly in the obvious places. You confess the big things without flinching. Then it names the small things – the edge in your tone, the cold shoulder, the attitude you didn’t want to admit you had. Peace with God makes you brave enough to tell the truth about your behavior and your attitudes.

But it doesn’t stop there. As safety grows, it makes you brave enough to tell the truth about yourself – the parts that aren’t moral failures, just human realities. Your wiring. Your values. Your desires. Your sensitivities. Your limits. The things you’ve ignored, misunderstood, or been afraid to name because you weren’t sure they were acceptable.

And once you start telling the truth to yourself and to God, you start telling the truth to people. You begin shedding layers of pretense – not dramatically, just quietly, like someone taking off a coat they no longer need. You catch yourself when you slip into performance mode. You notice when you’re managing impressions instead of offering authentic presence. You feel the difference between being “on” and being you.

Peace with God doesn’t just reconcile you to Him. It reconciles you to yourself. And that reconciliation makes you more honest, grounded, whole – and yes, a more powerful presence in the lives of others.

That’s the gift of covenant peace: it frees you to live in the truth – not just the truth about your sin, but the truth about your soul.

So here’s the invitation for this week: pay attention to the moments when you feel yourself slipping into pretense – with God, with others, or even with yourself. Don’t judge it. Just notice it. Let it be a cue to step back into truth. Name what’s real. Let grace meet you there. That’s how covenant peace becomes a lived experience, one honest moment at a time.
