The Prayer that Transcends Time

    Introduction

    • Monthly Theme: The Gift of the Gospel (December)
    • Message Title: “The Prayer that Transcends Time”
    • Connecting Christmas to Easter:
      • Mark 10:45: Jesus’ purpose – to give His life as a ransom.
      • Luke 2:11: Birth of a Savior in Bethlehem.
      • Matthew 1:21: Jesus named for saving people from their sins.
    • Main Idea: Encourage prayer for those who have not received the gospel.
    • Reflection Prompt: Think of someone who hasn’t embraced the gospel.

    Text: Luke 23:33-38

    Crucifixion Scene:

    • Jesus crucified and mocked.
    • Soldiers casting lots for His clothes.
    • Jesus prays: “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”
    • Prayer Scope: Beyond those present; inclusive of all humanity.
    • Call for Grace: Recognize brokenness, seek God’s grace.

     Journal Insight:

    • Jesus’ prayer extends to all people, including me.
    • Personal gratitude for the revelation of Jesus.
    • Transformation from religious figure to personal Savior.
    • Prayer for friends, family, and associates.
    • Seeing Jesus as a personal, loving figure.
    • Relationship over religious rituals.
    • Experience of acceptance, love, and freedom in Jesus.

     Indifference and Hostility:  The world’s deception by the evil one

    Pray for Christ’s Influence: Influencing people to Christ by our prayers and our presentation.
