Text: 2 Corinthians 5:1-10
Vs 7. “We walk by faith and not by sight.”
Our is a personal faith in a living Person.
I. As we walk with the Lord, He reminds us that these are not permanent conditions.
Paul speaks about the reality of our life beyond this world with the Lord in heaven. We don’t live believing what we see is all there is to life. We walk by faith.
But not living by sight does not mean living by blind faith. Unseen doesn’t mean unreal.
We are to live our lives here with an awareness that these are not permanent conditions.
II. As we walk with the Lord, He reminds us that He is with us.
Additional Verses to Meditate Upon:
- Matthew 28:20 (KJV): “Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”
- John 14:17 (NIV): ” He lives with you and will be in you.”
- Romans 1:6 (NIV): “And you also are among those Gentiles who are called to belong to Jesus Christ.”
- Isaiah 41:10 (NIV): “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
He is with us in every way but visibly.
III. As we walk with the Lord He reminds us that He has a plan
In the fullness of time Jesus was born. At just the right time Christ died. At the appointed time Jesus will return. God has a plan and He is working it. He’s planned His work and He’s working His plan.
But just because the Lord is with us, and the Lord has a plan, it doesn’t mean the journey will be easy. It won’t be; we will be harassed by tribulations.
IV. As we walk with the Lord, He helps us to be unafraid.
- But that doesn’t mean He makes us immune to fear. David said, in Psalm 56:3 “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you” and again in Psalm 23 “I will fear no evil because Thou art with me.”
- Fear is part of the faith process. The goal isn’t to be fearless, but to trust Christ with our fears.
- This principle applies to every aspect of our lives. It’s not about being pride-free, but about surrendering our pride to Christ. It’s not about achieving perfect love, but about bringing our unlove to Him. It’s not about being anxiety-free, but about bringing our worries to Christ. It’s not about never struggling with forgiveness, but about offering our hurts and resentment to Him. It’s not about being strong, but allowing Christ’s power to be made perfect in our weakness. It’s not about having all the answers, but about trusting Christ to guide us one step at a time.
- Jesus Himself said that He came not for the healthy, but for the sick. Now how liberating is that!” Christ came to set us free by setting us straight on trusting in Him.
