Someone lost a wallet. I found it. It contained credit cards, membership cards, weapons’ permits, other important information and several hundred dollars in cash. Because of the money, I wanted to return it personally to the owner to make sure he got every single dollar back.
After a lengthy process I tracked him down. It belonged to a police officer. He was overjoyed. We arranged for him to come by the house. I gave him the wallet and one of our church information cards. I told him I was the pastor. He told me he was a Christian, too.
“It’s hard being good out here, as a police officer. The Lord’s been testing me,” he said. “This is an integrity issue,” he continued, shaking his wallet and referring to my returning it to him totally intact.
“Well, the Lord hooked you up, brother, by having me find it” I said.
He laughed and agreed. “Can I compensate you for this?”
“Absolutely not,” I said. “But when you have a free Sunday, I’d love to have you visit us.”
He is a young man, still in his twenties, and he wants more from me than a Sunday invite.
“I have to leave town this weekend. But when I get back, I would like to connect with you.”
Pray for him, if you will. He will appreciate it. Call him EZ. The Lord knows who he is.
You never know what the Lord is up to in someone’s life and how he might want to use you to influence him or her.
