Haters Inc.

October 28, 2015 By Dan Baty 2 Comments

(This is an unusual post from me because I really don’t like to focus on negative human behavior. Instead, I would rather promote the One who transforms human beings. But today someone needs to be alerted and advised about *dealing* with a particular type of negative behavior. So here’s one of those alerts!)

It is a curious thing how people who don’t like each other can become friends based on their common dislike of another person. Don’t be surprised when people form an alliance of hate against you. Haters Inc., we could call it. It can happen to the best of us. It happened to Jesus. Pilate sent Jesus to Herod. After ridiculing and mocking Jesus, Herod sent Jesus back to Pilate and according to the Scriptures, “That day Herod and Pilate became friends–before this they had been enemies” (Luke 23:12). Don’t hate back. Pray for them. And pray specifically that God would fill them with His love, which for certain they are lacking and cannot be experiencing. By all means don’t allow it to misshape or deface you or contaminate your spirit. Don’t give them that power.

I agree, Clara. The Scriptures tell us “a cheerful heart is good medicine.”
