“The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us” (John 1:14).
Marvelous words have been written, spoken, and sung about the Lord. But all words are but a poor rendering of the glory, power and majesty of the Word who became flesh and dwelt among us.
The words may be beautiful. The words may be powerful. The words may be true. But words are not the complete picture. He is greater than all word descriptions of Him. Even the astonishing ones we read in the Scriptures cannot fully frame Him. “The Lord is my shepherd” is absolutely true, but it is not the total truth about the Lord. He is that and so much more. Earthly words can never be equal to the Word who speaks living truth directly to the heart, soul, spirit, and mind. They can never match the One whose words are spirit and life.
Therefore, let us appreciate the stunning word portraits of the Lord painted by men and women of God over the centuries, let us trust in the glorious, inspired images of Him in the Scriptures, and let us rejoice in the reality that Jesus Himself surpasses them all.
Something to take just a moment to consider today.
