Just a Moment with Pastor Dan Baty

July 15, 2022 By Dan Baty Leave a Comment

“For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what he does not have” (2 Corinthians 8:12). In other words, God delights in the heart of our devotion to Him more than in the quantity of it. And He will gladly add to and expand whatever we have.

Think of your relationship with the Lord as a grand house with many rooms. Each room represents a spiritual quality or truth. The moment you genuinely desire that quality, the door to that room opens and you enter it.

For example, when you read, “One thing I have asked of the Lord that I shall seek, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life to behold the beauty of the Lord and to meditate in His temple” (Psalm 27:4) and your heart genuinely desires that truth, the door to that room opens to you. Now all that remains is to wait for and to receive the “furnishings,” which the Lord provides day by day to customize that room to your gifts and personality.

There will always be opportunity to add items or redecorate as you grow and change but you are there. And it is “willingness” (or desire) that unlocks each door as you move about the house.

Something to take just a moment to consider today.
