While talking to my grandson at the breakfast table this morning, he noticed the word on my hoodie and read it out loud.
“Champion.”
I said, “Are you going to have a champion week at school?”
“Yes” he answered, “unless I decide to make it legendary.”
I laughed. Then I continued, “Yeah, that would be even better. But do you know what makes a champion?”
“What?”
“One play at a time. So, if you want to have a champion week, make it one good decision at a time.”
The same applies to all of us. A championship week consists of a collection of individual decisions, each taken one moment at a time. And while it is not likely we will make all the right choices, the most critical time for making a good decision is right after we’ve made a poor one.
