Living in this information age with worldwide social media, we can be surrounded by and saturated with pithy spiritual slogans. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing but we are wise to use caution. The benefit of God’s truth is not found in how much of it we know but in how much of it we absorb and believe. A person who believes Jesus’ simple statement, “Come to Me and I will give you rest” is better off than the person who can quote the Bible front to back but doesn’t internalize what he is quoting. Jesus said, whoever hears My words and acts upon them (because he believes) is like a man who built his house on a rock, and the one who has heard but not acted (because he doesn’t believe) is like a man who built his house on the sand. When the storms of life come, a simple house made of stone is more secure than a castle of sand.
Something to take just a moment to consider today.
