Regarding the true Gift of Christmas, the old saying goes, “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.” But what is true about life in Christ is the reality is even better than it seems. By outward appearances it may not have the glamour that would cause millions to envy it, yet we struggle to describe the wonder and surpassing glory of it.
Perhaps that is what Paul meant when he wrote, “your life is hidden with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:3). It is a life we live in the physical realm but gives us access to heaven’s endless and wondrous resources. Like an ever-flowing stream, the Lord’s affection for us courses through every moment of our lives, along endless banks where He invites us to refresh and delight ourselves in Him. Nothing can separate us from His love, even if we are separated from everything on earth we love.
If that sounds too good to be true, the testimony of millions upon millions is it’s even better than it sounds.
