The truest treasure of heaven and earth, and the deepest longing of the human heart is to know the Lord’s love for us in a real and intimate way. It is the reason Jesus came to earth, and it is the primary work of His Holy Spirit. This was God’s plan from the beginning, which means our quest to know Him better was not our bright idea, but a response to His promptings.
This personal knowledge of His love is the end in view of all that He instructs us in His word and all that He allows or prevents in our lives. “God causes all things to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28). His chief purpose, from which all of our other spiritual effects flow, is our utter security in His love.
So, by faith, let us embrace the outcomes of today as the raw materials He is using to fashion a more precious relationship with Him and a greater awareness of His unfathomable love for us.
