Part of the reason we spend time with the Lord is to learn how to spend time with Him. The Lord will actually teach us how to be with Him. How to truly enjoy His presence. How to just relax, without rushing through our “Time-with-God” agenda like a morning workout, even if we only have a few minutes. How to embrace and even incorporate distractions. And so much more!
He doesn’t have a template that fits all of us; instead, He wants to personalize our private fellowship with Him. We may use the same tools, but the format for each of us is unique. But these things are learned and acquired as we consistently seek His face, and it is an ongoing process regardless of our level of spiritual maturity.
Therefore, spending time with the Lord is also learning-time for how to do so. To this end, we can lift our voices to the Lord and say, “guide me in your truth and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long” (Psalm 25:5).
Something to take just a moment to consider today.
