Just a Moment with Pastor Dan Baty

July 28, 2023 By Dan Baty Leave a Comment

Did you know… when Jesus Christ was brutally flogged and then gruesomely hung on a cross to die, He knew the blood that was flowing from His wounds was paying for each one of our sins? He knew it as clearly as a parent paying a child’s tuition to college. Or a man buying an engagement ring for his beloved. Or a person paying bail for someone’s release from jail. But unlike those examples, Jesus also knew that His was the only blood that could make that payment. We couldn’t get a summer job to help out with the expense. There was no installment plan. We couldn’t pay a percentage of the total amount. It was all on Him. There was no other way we could receive forgiveness and enjoy the wonders of our eternal relationship with God. And when He uttered the words, “It is finished,” just before He died, Jesus knew what had been accomplished by the shedding of His blood. He knew the world would be filled with grateful beneficiaries like us, who are eager to see Him and thank Him face to face.

Are you one of those beneficiaries? Have you accepted His payment on your behalf? Have you reached out to Him to receive it? He did it for you as much as for anyone else on earth.

Something to take just a moment to consider today.
