When was the last time you talked to the Lord about the kind of relationship you want to have with Him? Not just what you want Him to do for you or even through you. Not just to help you to be a better Christian or a better husband or wife. And not even what you want Him to do for others. I’m not suggesting any of those things aren’t appropriate requests, but besides those things, have you ever painted the picture of how you want to be with Him and how you want to experience Him?
For example, David would say, “I want to behold Your beauty.”
Moses would say, “I want to see Your glory.”
Paul would say, “I want to know the power of Your resurrection.”
A hymnist once wrote, “Be Thou my vision.”
Dan Baty would say, “I want You to be my supreme delight.”
Someone else might say, “I want to be secure in Your love for me.”
Or, “I want my relationship with You to be more real.”
Regarding just your personal relationship with Him, if Jesus asked you, “What do you want Me to do for you?” How would you answer Him?
Something to take just a moment to consider today.
