“God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him” (John 3:17). Jesus did not come into the world to condemn sinners. He came into the world to condemn sin itself. He did not come to condemn you and I for sinning, but to condemn sin as a factor in our relationship with God. You could say He sentenced sin to the gallows, to the guillotine, the firing squad, the electric chair, to the death chamber. Or, more accurately, to the cross!
He then executed sin by taking it – ALL of it – every fragment and every infinitesimal particle of it – upon His body, the only heavenly body in the universe capable of doing so, and dying. When He died sin died with Him. He did not die to remove sin from the world but to create a sin-free environment in which those who trust in Him enter and are cleansed of their sins. Not only that, but they are also given the very righteousness of Christ. Now they can experience a personal relationship with God Himself. A relationship unblemished by sin. A relationship of peace. A relationship of joy. A relationship of wonder. A relationship of infinite love. A relationship that is both immutable and eternal. A relationship purchased and paid in full by the blood of Jesus Christ.
In the spiritual realm, sin is dead. A day is coming when Jesus will return to earth and destroy it in the earthly realm as well. He is the human liberator and the sin terminator.
Something to take just a moment to consider today.
