Just a Moment with Pastor Dan Baty

There is no “formula” for prayer. Nor do we need a “strategy” when we approach our heavenly Father. So, the following is not a “how to” or a checklist, but some ideas that have helped me to feel more confident and freer in my communication with Him.

Request. Make your requests known to the Lord, sincerely, completely, and with thanksgiving. Pour out your heart before Him. Cast all your anxieties upon Him.

Release. Let go of your expectations. Do not cling to any specific outcome you have in mind. God heard you and He knows what you want. Do not “box God in,” or settle for only what you want. Instead…

Replace. Replace “expectations” with trust. God not only can do exceedingly, abundantly beyond what we ask or imagine, that is also His desire! Which means our expectations may fall woefully short of what God has in mind for us. The Scriptures are filled with examples of God surpassing the expectations of His people. Trust in God’s unchanging love for you and in His ability to do the unimaginable and don’t “settle” for your notion of how He must do it.

Rest. Let it go. Leave it with Him. Wait patiently on the Lord. Don’t force anything. Don’t fake anything. Don’t fret about anything. Wait on the Lord, be strong and let your heart take courage. When God does it you won’t miss it.

Something to take just a moment to consider today.
