This morning, the lingering stench of his words still clings to my spirit. Yet, amidst this bitterness, the lyrics of an old hymn surfaced: “The vilest offender who truly believes, that moment from Jesus a pardon receives.”
And that’s what makes grace both amazing – and humbling. Quoting one of the lines of our church’s mission statement: “We need Jesus as much as anyone else.’” If God could love such a one, how can I justify harboring unforgiveness and a thirst for retribution? No, I am not and cannot be God, but I am a man of God. And through my relationship with Him and with the coaching of the Holy Spirit, I can be like God in my attitudes and aspirations. With His help I can give the world glimpses of His love and not merely reflect its hatefulness.
Something to take just a moment to consider today.
