Sometimes the best way to “make a difference” is to simply be a good human being. This means showing basic manners like saying “please,” “thank you,” “excuse me,” and “I’m sorry.” It involves thinking before speaking, counting to ten before reacting, and letting the driver trying to enter your lane go ahead (most will even give you a wave of gratitude). These seemingly small acts make a big difference in how others—and we ourselves—experience life each day.
Just imagine what today would be like if each of us gave others the consideration and respect we want for ourselves. It’s wonderful when someone randomly pays for the groceries of the person behind them in line. It’s beautiful when a wealthy person funds a bunch of kids to go to college. But we don’t need grand gestures to make the world a more pleasant place for all of us, just a little extra mindfulness in our daily interactions.
Something to take just a moment to consider today.
