In this age of information overload, where nonstop messages increasingly erode our attention span, the Lord is able to give us a patient spirit. A spirit that can sit with the truths from His word as if they are old friends. Not rushing past their stories because we’ve heard them all before, but enjoying them because they are familiar.
Our good friend Psalm 23 always tells us the story of how the Lord is our shepherd. When we listen patiently, savoring his words, we are freshly blessed. Good old John 3:16 tells us of how God proved His love for every person in the entire world. And every time we see Philippians 4:6-8 he reminds us of how God is eager to exchange His peace for our anxieties.
The best thing about these old friends is their stories are not fiction or exaggerated fish tales. Nor are they only for our entertainment. They are beacons of hope that guide our faith to the living story giver!
Something to take just a moment to consider today.
