Just a Moment with Pastor Dan Baty

September 18, 2020 By Dan Baty 1 Comment

“…to live is Christ…” (Philippians 1:21).
“To live is Christ,” does not mean adhering to a specific denomination or brand of Christianity, nor to “Christian principles.”
“To live is Christ,” does not necessarily mean discipleship training, social action or activism, or even church membership.
Christ certainly uses all those things, but all those things are not Christ.
“To live is Christ” means focusing on Christ Himself. Christ, the risen one. Christ the living one. Christ, the one who is with us and in us always, even to the end of the age.
“To live is Christ” is to see all events, all circumstances, all relationships as portals to a place of deeper trust in Christ and a deeper intimacy with Him.
“To live is Christ” is to continually process life – every aspect of it – with Him.
Not because we must.  Not because it is the “obedient” thing to do.  Not because we are committed, but because He has made Himself the best thing about every day to us and we simply cannot help ourselves.
“To live is Christ” is not something we do for Christ. Nor is it an obligation we “owe” to God. It is a blessing He bestows upon any and all who seek Him, by simply revealing to them how utterly marvelous He is.
Something to take just a moment to consider today.

His marvelousness cannot hid in us. It bubbles up and spills out. He shines through us to make himself known. He is a joy and recognizable to others he lives in; attractive to some who don’t know him; despised by those of Satan’s camp.

Thank you, Pastor. Those are my thoughts.
    God bless you.
