Have you ever wondered what truly drove Jesus to the cross?
It’s not merely a theological position or a historical fact—there is so much more! Jesus suffered and died not because it was required of Him, but because it was necessary for us. He had a righteous choice to save Himself or a loving choice to save us. It was love that compelled Him to choose us.
That love, demonstrated even when we were His enemies, is as vibrant and active today as it ever was. It is immutable and unwavering. It envelops us every moment of our lives and shadows us wherever we go. It’s a constant we can rely on now and forever. This love remains steadfast through all circumstances, despite our failings, spiritual apathy, or even when we become numb to its magnificence from hearing about it so often. His love for us isn’t dependent on our behavior, feelings, attitude, or moods; it flows solely from His grace. As it is written, “This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins” (1 John 4:10). His love is the unchanging anchor in a world of shifting sands.
Something to take just a moment to consider this today.
