“Jesus stopped and said, ‘Call him.’ So, they called to the blind man, ‘Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.'” (Mark 10:49). When we read the story of Bartimaeus, we see the wonderful personal attention that Jesus gives to each person. Jesus did not hear “just another blind man” calling to Him. He heard a specific individual with a unique need, a distinct voice, and a personal cry for help.
In the same way, Jesus hears us individually. No matter how many other prayers are going up, we are not lost in the crowd to Him. Our voices, our needs, our cries reach His ears in a very personal way. When we call out to Jesus, He hears us. Not as one among many, but as His precious creation.
So today, remember that your voice matters to Jesus. He stops, listens, and calls you by name. No matter where you are, how you’re feeling, or what your circumstances look like, you can be assured that He hears you. Draw near to Him and let Him draw near to you.
Something to take just a moment to consider and rejoice in today.
