“Just a Moment with Pastor Dan Baty”

September 25, 2020 By Dan Baty Leave a Comment

Psalm 119:71 (NIV) It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees.

Sometimes experience is not just the best teacher, it is the only teacher. Like swallowing water on the way to learning to swim, or a child falling off a bicycle on the way to learning to ride, or like making a mess on the way to learning to bake a cake. Not all lessons can be learned from lectures about life, some can only come from actually living.

“God is faithful” is more than a phrase to someone who was on the precipice of disaster and experienced God’s deliverance. “Those who wait on the Lord will gain new strength” is more than poetry to a person whose faith was once shattered by an unexpected event but is now stronger than ever. How can “the peace of God that surpasses understanding” manifest itself when the waters are always calm?

Financial pressure. Health issues. Relationship chaos. Even a pandemic. These are all unpleasant byproducts of living in a fallen and imperfect world. But they also contain nutrients that can make our faith deeper and our relationship with Christ richer.

Something to take just a moment to consider today.
