Paul’s words in 2 Corinthians 12:9 reveal a beautiful paradox: “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” Rather than eliminating weakness, God infuses His strength directly into our frailty, allowing the two to co-exist. Like fragile jars of clay, we carry the treasure of His power (2 Corinthians 4:7), and through weakness, His strength is revealed.
In 2 Corinthians 4:8-10, Paul describes being troubled, perplexed, persecuted, and cast down, yet never overwhelmed. He didn’t always feel cheerful, know what to do, or handle everything perfectly but he kept moving forward by faith. This coexistence of human frailty and divine strength is not a contradiction—it’s evidence of God’s sustaining grace. His power is demonstrated not only in deliverance from trials but also in the ongoing trust He inspires in us during them. What feels to us like a struggle may appear to others as God-given perseverance.
Therefore, while we rejoice in God’s deliverance from difficulty and moments when He helps our godly character shine brightly, let us also celebrate His power that sustains our faith in trials and weaknesses. For these can be an even greater display of His glory.
Something to take just a moment to consider today.
