Just a Moment with Pastor Dan Baty

What happens when we take our last breath? Does our spirit sleep, waiting for resurrection, or does it remain fully alive and conscious?

According to Scripture, when we put our faith in Christ as our Savior, we are sealed by the Holy Spirit until the day Jesus returns (Ephesians 1:13). And because the Holy Spirit dwells within us—inseparably united with our spirit—we are never lost in the void of death. Our spirit remains alive, connected to Christ, even as we await our bodily resurrection.

Jesus affirmed this truth when He said: “Everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die.” – John 11:26

The life of the Spirit is woven into our very being. Where He goes, we go. We are not bound to this earthly vessel but anchored eternally to His Spirit. “It is the Spirit who gives life,” Jesus declared in John 6:63. His presence within us makes eternal life not merely a future hope, but a present reality.

Because of this union, death holds no power over us. It is not an end, but a transition—a doorway into the fullness of the eternal life we already possess. In Christ, we live forever—now and always.

Something to take just a moment to consider and rejoice in today.
