Just a Moment with Pastor Dan Baty

June 20, 2025 By Dan Baty Leave a Comment

We live in a world that floods us with information, including spiritual input. Between songs, conversations, podcasts, and social media, we might encounter a hundred truths in a single day. But we can’t hold on to all of them. That kind of saturation can sometimes make it hard to recall, apply, or even truly believe what we’ve heard.

So, I choose what I call, One Daily Spiritual Touchstone.

A spiritual touchstone is a focal point for meditation, prayer, and sharing. It’s one primary spiritual truth I carry with me throughout the day. It could be a Scripture verse, or an inspirational phrase rooted in biblical truth. It might change daily or stay with me for several days.

That one truth becomes my hub and my spiritual processor for the day. As I receive other spiritual input, I don’t treat it as a separate meditation; I try to integrate it with my touchstone truth. I also filter life’s moments through that lens, and it helps me to respond spiritually than just react viscerally.

This simple practice helps me live my faith more intentionally during the day, and, when the day ends, remember the truth that guided me from the very start.

Something to take just a moment to consider today.
