I didn’t choose to be born in America, but I believe God chose it for me. Scripture tells us He appoints our time and place so we might seek Him. For me, being American became the path through which I came to know Christ.
So today, I thank God for my birthplace and for those across the globe whose lands were likewise chosen as the soil for their faith to grow. God isn’t an American. He isn’t bound to any one nation. His eternal kingdom gathers souls from every tribe, tongue, and people.
Despite our present challenges, I’m grateful for the measure of freedom we enjoy, the ability to live, speak, and worship. Though imperfect, it remains a precious gift.
My prayer and my confidence are that His grace will continue to shine upon us, and that His purposes may be fulfilled, even in the stress and mess of our ultra-polarized national climate.
The LORD Almighty has sworn, “Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will happen.” (Isaiah 14:24)
Something to take just a moment to consider on this Independence Day.
