Just a Moment with Pastor Dan Baty

February 6, 2026 By Dan Baty Leave a Comment

We hear the phrase all the time, “God loves you.” It’s one of those truths that gets repeated so often it can start to sound like background noise. We nod at it, we agree with it, but sometimes we don’t really let it sink in. So today, I want to shift the emphasis. Not God LOVES you, the way He loves everybody. No – God loves YOU, as He loves no one else.

He loves the you who is trying. He loves the you who is tired. He loves the you who is still figuring out what trust looks like in this season of your life. He loves the you who has doubts you haven’t voiced, regrets you haven’t resolved, and hopes you haven’t dared to name. And He even loves the future you, the person He already knows, but you haven’t met yet.

You see, God’s love is not generic. It is not mass‑produced. It is not a blanket statement thrown over humanity. It is personal. It is specific. It is aimed at you with a precision that no one else on earth can replicate.

He is the One who has never been mistaken about you or surprised by you. Not once. Not ever. There has never been a moment when God said, “Well… I didn’t see that coming.” There has never been a day when He loved you based on a false representation or a misunderstanding.

And sometimes the disconnect between our desires and His responses to our prayers is simply this: He is loving the you He knows. And He is inviting us to trust Him enough to rest securely in that love as Jude exhorts: “Keep yourselves in the love of God” (Jude 21).

Something to take just a moment to consider today.
