I was asked, why is God’s time so different than man’s. God graciously abides with us in time, but He also exists outside of it. Time was created by God for us to give us a sense of perspective and order. Otherwise, living our lives would be like flying continually in a cloud with no reference points. The Scriptures detail the effects of time and its primary purpose, i.e. to remind us to think beyond our existence “today.” Time creates change. Seasons come and go. “The grass withers and the flower fades.” We age. Time gives us a sense of our mortality so we will think about life in higher ways than just existing from day to day. If we are open and willing, it can lead us to consider our relationship with our Creator and hopefully appeal to Him in the words of Moses, “Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12).
Something to take just a moment to consider today.
