Just a Moment with Pastor Dan Baty

May 2, 2020 By Dan Baty Leave a Comment

Talking is often disproportionately promoted as a feature of our relationship with the Lord. There are days when we may not have a whole lot to say to Him. Or we may have much to say but don’t have the energy to talk about it. Or maybe we’re tired of talking.
One of the things that makes spending time with Him a precious gift is there is no standard way to do it. One size or strategy does not fit all, any more than one kind of relationship fits all. He is a Person not a technique, and He is personally and emotionally invested in each one of us – as individuals.
Therefore, our time with Him can be a variable mix of meditation, reflection and silent emoting as well as verbalization. He welcomes it all because “The Lord takes pleasure in His people” (Psalm 149:4). He delights in you – wherever you are and however you are.
So we can approach Him with a liberating attitude such as, “It’s just me, Lord, and I’m just here with You. I fling open all the doors and windows of my spirit, my thoughts, my emotions and my body to the fresh air of Your Spirit’s presence. Thank You for always welcoming me with warmth, affection and attentiveness regardless of my mood or attitude.”
Something to take just a moment to consider today as we launch a new month of walking with our magnificent Lord.
