Following Christ is more than following the rules. It means clothing ourselves with Christ (Rom 13:14). How does that happen? As we adore Him, we adorn Him. What inspires us to adore Him? Realizing how much He adores us. How do we realize how much He adores us? By worshiping Him with thanksgiving and praise. By believing what He says about who we are in Christ. By giving Him the full, unredacted contents of our hearts. By spending time with Him alone. By spending time with Him with others.
These actions are not “commandments” we obey to “earn” God’s favor; they are gifts from above to help us see His favor. Taking hold of His adoration of us is how we follow Christ with joy and in power.
