Awake in bed hours before my usual getting-up time, I sought the Lord, not for sleep but for awareness of His nearness and for the quiet, soothing music of His presence. If I was going to be awake in the wee hours of the morning, I wanted to be so with Him.
I was not inclined to write anything down. Nor was I prompted to pray for others or engage in any other spiritual “work.” I just asked to enjoy the peaceful music of His presence in His presence.
It was so relaxing I soon fell back asleep.
This doesn’t happen all the time. I cannot tell you how it happened this morning. I do not have a formula for it. I just received it as a special gift that supported the broader truth that “the nearness of the Lord is my good,” (Psalm 73:28), and the larger lesson is His presence with us is, and always will be everything we need for every need.
Something to take just a moment to consider today.
