Pondering retirement, basketball great turned sports commentator, Charles Barkley, said he wanted to spend his later years “enjoying the back 9” of his life. Hearing that, I thanked the Lord, that my “back 9” gets better each day because of Him.
That is not to say it gets easier, but as the apostle Paul so eloquently stated it, “though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day” (2 Corinthians 4:16). Though the capabilities of my physical body are diminishing with age, and life’s challenges continue, my life gets richer and deeper and fuller because of my always-growing relationship with Christ. That is the blessing of the eternal life that is ours right now by faith in Him.
Something to take just a moment to thankfully consider today.
