Many of us have watched certain movies many times, not because they are unfamiliar but because they are familiar. We can quote portions of the dialogue. We know the scenes. We know how it’s going to end. We watch it because it inspires us, or makes us laugh, or warms our heart, or excites us.
We can take this same approach in our meditation on our favorite Scripture passages. We can regard them as precious, not because they are “new” but because of the familiar truths they contain that bring us joy, hope, peace or direction. As it is written, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path… I rejoice at Your word as one who finds great treasure… I have taken Your testimonies as a heritage forever, for they are the joy of my heart…“(Psalm 119:105, 162, 111).
Something to take just a moment to consider today.
