“I came that they might have life and have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).
What exactly is this abundant life Jesus said He came to give to us? The life is Jesus Himself. Jesus is essentially saying, “I came that you might know Me, the One who is the life, and as your personal knowledge of Me grows, your life will be filled and overflowing with Me.”
The abundant life is our experience of the living Christ Himself as we process the highs. the lows, and the everydayness of life with Him. He does not provide us something outside of Himself as “the life,” instead, all things He provides are intended to lead us to Him as the life. The abundant life is our personal experience of His presence, His comfort, His affection, His power, His humor and creativity – of His Person. He is the life our souls hunger for and most want to enjoy, explore and to express. He came to earth to make the “abundance” of Himself possible and available to each one of us.
