The Super Bowl is arguably the single greatest one-day attraction of the year, requiring a cast of thousands. Besides the competing teams and their support personnel, there are the people who plan, produce and act in the commercials, the half-time show technicians and performers, the press, security and so many others. No one person is larger than the event, but every “cast member” is an important part of it.
When it comes to the Lord’s purposes for today, Monday, January 30, 2023, it is a cast of millions. No one person is larger than the “event,” but each one of us is a significant part of it. We are significant not because of the size of our role, or because of the recognition of others, but because we were personally recruited by our Creator to be part of this never-seen-before day. Each of us has been given a role specifically crafted for us and an effect unique to each of us. We are not replaceable cogs in a massive production, but beloved and intimately known members of His family. We are not loved because we are “significant;” we are significant because we are loved. His love for us makes us vital members of His cast, regardless of how we may be measured or judged by others.
