“My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One” (1 John 2:1).
Do not plan to sin. Do not give in to the temptation to sin. Sin is not only unspiritual it is also unwise and unhealthy. It is an illusion masquerading as substance. It is a disease advertised as the cure. It is a lie imitating truth.
But if (and when) you do sin, remember Jesus is our advocate. He is our “case” before God. He is our “plea.” By faith in Him we are forever beloved and accepted by the Father. Not because we do not sin but because He has paid for them.
